Pousada Getsêmani

Conceived as a pousada focused more on Mariana’s business than its leisure tourists, the Pousada Getsêmani offers simple, comfortable, spotlessly clean, and relatively inexpensive accommodations for guests to return to in the evening for a good night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast before heading out again in the morning. But new facilities like a deck with swimming pool and additional garden and social spaces reflect a change in vision and were planned to attract more of the leisure tourists who visit Mariana.

The Pousada Getsêmani’s name reflects the host’s desire to offer his guests a peaceful haven. One enters from the street through a garden gate and immediately feels the welcoming shade of the trees surrounding the property. A stone staircase leads to a veranda with a sitting area in front of the lobby and reception area with a living room with sofas and a television for guests’ use. Both host and staff are friendly and helpful with recommendations of what to see and do in Mariana or with arranging transportation, guides, or reservations. Guest rooms are located on two floors with little details like fresh filtered water stations in strategic locations.

A traditional homemade breakfast with a huge variety of baked goods, fruits, juices, local cheese, ham, jams, and more is served in the bright, second-floor breakfast room which offers views of the historic city center.
