Pousada da Serrinha

The Pousada da Serrinha is a total surprise, since the main house and extensive gardens reveal themselves only after the massive wooden gate opens. Through an area of huge paving stones, wide stone steps flanked by palm trees lead to the twin front porch and the reception area and lobby. The large breakfast room / bar / social area extends from front to back, while several rooms occupy the lower right side, where a door opens onto a balcony overlooking the gardens. A wooden staircase, up the back of the foyer, leads to the upstairs living room and bedrooms. The decor is eclectic, with touches of antiques and a lot of potted plants. The grounds are landscaped with plants and shrubs and numerous fruit trees, which attract a large variety of birds and small animals. There is also an organic garden of herbs and vegetables.
