Visit to Jewelry Production
The trade of jewels and precious stones is a traditional activity in Santo Antonio do Leite. The diversity of its gems allows the creation of fine jewelry and quality. In the district of St. Anthony's Milk, a community of artisans develops original works of jewelry, crafting jewelry in silver and precious stones. The Topaz mine, where the greatest concentration of mineral lies, is near the city in the district of Rodrigo Silva.
8:00 - Departure from the hotel or other meeting point agreed with the Agency, supervised by one of our guides, and head toward Topaz mine in Rodrigo Silva.
9:00 - Arrival at the mine where visitors will see the mining of topaz
10:00 - Continue to San Antonio.
10:30 - In San Antonio we go to a studio visit to see the process of making jewelry.
12:00 - Stop for lunch
13:00 - Return to the hotel or elsewhere in the city. End of our services.
Participant guidelines
We recommend:
- The use of comfortable shoes, as the stones of the streets are slippery and the hills are steep;
- In the wintertime use of clothing to combat the cold weather of the cities and in times of heat, we recommend the use of sunscreen.
- Recall that Ouro Preto and its neighboring towns experience differences in altitude, and low temperatures are possible throughout the year;
