In July, the Winter Festival is held in Ouro Preto, and it invades the streets, hills, parks, theaters and cinema. One of the country's largest cultural event stands out for its diversity of attractions that reflect the artistic expression of local, national and international customs. The Winter Festival brings together a series of activities based on proposals by cultural producers from around the country and the team of curators. The curators involve the performing arts, music, visual arts and visual arts, literature, natural and cultural heritage and also, the coordination of street.

Formatting is based on continuous interaction between academia and community. The event is understood as a form of realization of the educational extension that contributes to the promotion of cultural exchange between artists, musicians, students, tourists and the general public through its various art forms. The Winter Festival in Ouro Preto is a performance by the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP), in partnership with the Municipalities of Ouro Preto and Mariana and the Educational Foundation of Radio and TV Ouro Preto (FEOPE).
